This term our enquiry will be "How is the natural world unpredictable?'

Why does the Earth sometimes shake?
What is the difference between a volcano and a mountain? (Pompeii)
What makes Somerset flood? 

How can humans be more powerful than nature?
Where would I choose to live?

English

In English this term, we will be reading  the text 'Mrs Noah's Pockets. This narrative follows the biblical tale of Noah's Ark but with a fantastical twist involving troublesome mythical creatures that also need rescuing from the floods.

Using this text, we will develop our reading skills by retrieving information, as well as using interpretation skills to understand character feelings and emotions and exploring new vocabulary. The children will use these skills to visualise, predict and sequence events to showcase their understanding.

Maths

In Maths this term, we will be looking at understanding and manipulating multiplicative relationships. The children will learn key times table knowledge throughout this unit that will help them with their multiplication check at the end of the year.

Art/DT

In Art we will be studying the artist Katsushika Hokusai and particularly his painting of the 'giant wave'.

PSHE

Our topic for Term three in PSHE is Dreams and Goals.

RE

This term in RE will be learning how to better understand the religion of Christianity by studying particular biblical characters.

PE

In PE this term we will be learning the importance of being dynamic with our balances as well as completing a unit of gymnastics.
